About Akaroa Museum

Akaroa Museum is focused on the history of Banks Peninsula. Its varied collections include archives, art, photography, costume and textiles, taonga, and technology. We can provide research services and access to our extensive collection. The Museum is open 363 days a year.

Akaroa Museum was established in 1964 around the historic Langlois-Eteveneaux cottage, a rare remnant of the French presence in Akaroa. The Museum has since expanded to include four exhibition galleries and two additional heritage buildings, the Akaroa Court House and the Custom House.
